[Zhenshun Plastics] A Popular Science Article on Injection Molding Processes!

Plastics are materials whose primary components are natural or synthetic resins, to which various additives are added. Under specific conditions—such as certain temperatures and pressures—they can be molded into desired shapes and maintain those shapes at room temperature. As polymer compounds, plastics can be processed in a wide variety of ways. Next, let’s take a look at how plastics are injection-molded!

Injection molding machine

Injection Molding

The primary method for processing plastics is injection molding. In this process, the plastic is placed into a hopper, which then heats and injects the plastic into a long chamber via a reciprocating screw that pushes it forward. Afterwards... It is softened into a fluid state. The nozzle is located at the end of the cavity, and the molten plastic is forced through the nozzle to cool and close the mold. As the plastic cools and solidifies, the semi-finished product is ejected from the press.

Plastic extrusion

Plastic Extrusion

Plastic extrusion is a high-volume manufacturing process in which plastic raw materials are melted to form continuous profiles. The extrusion process is commonly used to produce items such as films, continuous sheets, tubes, profiles, rods, jacketed wires, filaments, yarns, and cables. Together with an injection molding machine, dry plastic is fed into a hopper and then conveyed into a long heated chamber. At the end of the chamber, the material is forced through a small opening—or through a die shaped to match the desired final product’s geometry. After exiting the die, the plastic is placed onto a conveyor belt to cool down. Sometimes, blowers are used during this process to aid in cooling.

Blow molding machine

Blow Molding

Blow molding, also known as hollow blow molding or extrusion blow molding, is a process in which a semi-molten tubular parison (parison) obtained through extrusion or injection molding is placed into a mold of various shapes. Compressed air is then introduced into the parison, causing it to expand and tightly conform to the mold cavity wall. After cooling and demolding, a hollow product is formed. The molding process consists of two main stages: the manufacture of the plastic parison and the subsequent blow molding of the parison.

Thermoforming

Thermoforming

A specialized plastic processing method used to manufacture various products from thermoplastic sheets. The sheet is clamped onto a frame and heated until it softens. Under external force, it is pressed tightly against the mold surface, thereby acquiring a shape that closely matches the mold’s contour. After cooling and solidifying, the product is finished through trimming and finishing operations.

Calendering

Calendering

Calendering, also known as glazing, is the final step in heavy-weight fabric finishing. It’s a finishing process that uses the plasticity of fibers under heated conditions to smooth or create fine, parallel diagonal lines on the fabric surface, thereby enhancing its luster. After the material is fed in, it’s heated and melted, then shaped into sheets or films, cooled, and finally rolled up.

Extrusion molding

Pultrusion

The manufacturing process in which a billet, subjected to uneven triaxial compressive stresses, is forced through a die’s orifice or gap, causing its cross-sectional area to decrease and its length to increase, thereby forming the desired product, is called extrusion. This type of processing applied to the billet is referred to as extrusion forming.

Vacuum forming

Vacuum Forming

Vacuum forming, often referred to as thermoforming, is a plastic processing technique. Its primary principle involves heating a flat, rigid plastic sheet until it becomes pliable, then using vacuum suction to conform it to the surface of a mold. After cooling, the plastic takes on the desired shape.

Rotational Molding

Rotational Molding

Rotational molding, also known as rotomolding, spin casting, rotary molding, or rotational casting, is a molding process in which a measured amount of plastic—either in liquid or powder form—is first placed into a mold. After the mold is closed, it is rotated around two perpendicular axes while being heated. Under the combined effects of gravity and thermal energy, the plastic material inside the mold gradually and evenly coats and melts, adhering uniformly to the entire inner surface of the mold cavity, thereby taking on the exact shape of the cavity. The molded part is then cooled and solidified, after which it is ejected from the mold to yield the desired final product. Throughout the entire rotational molding process, the plastic experiences virtually no external forces other than the influence of gravity.

Zhen Shun Yuanbo Travel Edition: Traversing Mountains and Rivers, Forever Cherishing Our Original Aspirations

Every departure is an opportunity to encounter even more breathtaking scenery; every journey together is a chance to forge deeper, warmer bonds. In 2025, Zhen Shun Plastics’ annual group tour arrived as scheduled. Leaving behind the hustle and bustle of work, we set off toward Changbai Mountain in Northeast China, drawn by our longing for its majestic mountains and rivers. During our four-day trip, we journeyed from the humid warmth of Lingnan to the crisp freshness of northern lands, stepping from the urban clamor into nature’s serene tranquility. Every leg of the journey was filled with surprises, and every moment was worth treasuring. First Stop: Changbai Mountain—Heavenly Lake Bestows Its True Beauty On the day of departure, the sunshine was just right, and our team began our journey to Heavenly Lake. Along the way, we were deeply captivated by the stunning scenery. As the altitude gradually rose, the distant Tian Shan mountain range came into view. The rolling hills, set against the blue sky, looked majestic and awe-inspiring. After much anticipation, we finally arrived at Heavenly Lake. What luck! It was our first time visiting Changbai Mountain, yet we were greeted with the sight of Heavenly Lake itself! The crystal-clear, deep-blue waters instantly amazed everyone present. Exclamations of wonder and cheers echoed through the air. Everyone rushed to get closer to this "peerless beauty," snapping photos to capture this unforgettable moment. The magic and beauty of nature always touch our hearts directly. Photos simply can’t convey the震撼 (shocking) power of the real scene—so it truly is said, “Seeing is believing.” You really have to see these sights with your own eyes. The blue sky, white clouds, mountains, and lakes—this very moment perfectly embodied the idea that “life is an open wilderness.” After admiring Heavenly Lake, we took another off-road vehicle back to the trailhead, then switched to an eco-friendly bus to reach the waterfall attraction. The Changbai Mountain Waterfall was truly spectacular—the water roared fiercely, its sound echoing for miles. It looked like a giant silver ribbon suspended high above the canyon. Whether viewed from afar or up close, the waterfall was breathtaking. Beneath the falls, the immense impact created swirling mist, making the scene absolutely magnificent. The river flowing down the waterfall ebbed and flowed, winding and twisting, stirring our senses. Second Stop: Guangdong Village—Stepping Into a Pastoral Poem of Korean Ethnic Charm As dusk approached, we arrived at a Korean ethnic village. The setting sun was gently coloring the land with a soft glow. Gray tiles and white walls turned orange, and the eaves were edged with gold—a scene straight out of a folk painting.
