On October 15, Zhen Shun Yuanbo’s annual tour finally got underway—after the COVID-19 pandemic in China had largely been brought under control. The tour, which was originally scheduled for March, was painfully delayed until October. Still, we feel incredibly fortunate to have had the chance to visit Hezhou—a beautiful place—amid the many trials and tribulations of 2020, and to enjoy a four-day journey filled with joy and excitement.

On October 15, our group set off from Guangzhou. After a short one-and-a-half-hour drive, we arrived in Hezhou. It was already 9 p.m. by then, and starving after our long journey, we found a large food stall in the city and started ordering frantically.

The dishes started coming out one after another. At the table, my fellow Hunanese girl and I instinctively asked the waiter to serve us extra chili powder so we could dip it separately. But the amount of chili powder the waiter brought us left us thoroughly unhappy. The waiter kept saying, “I’m afraid you won’t be able to handle all that spice!” We just replied, “Just bring on the chili—no problem!” After all, Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, and Hunan never complain about how spicy things are! Later, though, we got a huge facepalm moment: Why is Guangxi’s chili so fiery and intense?! My Hunanese friend and I didn’t touch a single grain of the chili powder the waiter had served us.

On October 16, we set off for our first stop: Ziyun Fairyland!

The Purple Cloud Fairyland is actually a cave system filled with stalactites and stalagmites of all shapes and colors. In the past, people noticed that the clouds surrounding the cave were purple, and since purple has long been considered an auspicious sign throughout history, the locals have always referred to this place as a fairyland.

After exiting the Ziyun Immortal Cave, we entered the ancient town of Huangyao. We planned to spend a night here—not only to witness its bustling vitality during the day but also to experience its tranquil serenity at night.

Perhaps because the National Day holiday had just ended, there weren’t many people in the ancient town during the day—just enough to let us wander around at our own pace.

In the ancient town, we saw old houses that had been abandoned for years—seemingly uninhabited for a long time—and also came across charming annexes brimming with modern design flair. Some shops, behind their dazzling displays of sundries, turned out to be quaint inns. Walking through them felt like stepping through time itself, and I found myself becoming an unassuming member of this beautiful little town from hundreds of years ago.

At night, the small town takes on a whole new kind of beauty—created by the interplay of modern lighting fixtures and ancient architecture. The town isn't swallowed up by darkness; rather, it seems to have been painted onto a black canvas, bringing to life a vividly realistic and brilliantly glowing little town. And right now, we’re all part of that painting.

The small town has many bars, yet it hasn’t become any more frivolous because of them. The gentle melodies of songs favored by today’s young people softly drift through this quaint little town, breathing new life into it.

On October 17, early in the morning, after quickly finishing our breakfast, we set off for our next stop: the internet-famous Fish Scale Dam!

It truly is a photography paradise—no matter whether you’re young or old, male or female, everyone can find a spot that suits them and keep snapping away. On our way out from Yulinba, we even had a minor but thankfully harmless little mishap: I dropped my phone into the river! It wasn’t until more than half an hour later that I realized it was missing. Luckily, it hadn’t been swept away by the current!

I’d already prepared myself for the possibility that my phone might be unusable for a month or two—but who would have guessed?! My Huawei phone wasn’t affected in the slightest. In fact, it even connected to my smartwatch’s Bluetooth while submerged in water, and it vibrated four times during a call. I was overjoyed—literally ecstatic after surviving such a close call! In the afternoon, we visited the Tu Yao ethnic group and watched their bonfire dance. We also enjoyed a long-table feast. For the first time, we truly and deeply felt the warmth and hospitality of this ethnic minority. Thanks to the company for giving us this opportunity!

In the evening, full of energy, we headed to the KTV again—everyone took turns putting on a concert!

I can’t help but exclaim: How happy, how happy, how happy I am!

On the final day, October 18, we finally arrived at Gupo Mountain, a place we’d long admired. Gupo Mountain is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction and also a state-level forest park, renowned as the largest natural oxygen bar in southern China.

Unfortunately, due to a landslide that occurred recently, we were unable to reach the top of Granny Mountain. We only made it as far as the “Galaxy Falling from the Nine Heavens” waterfall, the Jade Stone Forest, the Fairy Goddess Temple, Monkey Mountain, and the Fang Family Tea Plantation.

Gen Haku-chin Shun’s Group Celebrates the Hezhou Trip

Every departure is an opportunity to encounter even more breathtaking scenery; every journey together is a chance to forge deeper, warmer bonds. In 2025, Zhen Shun Plastics’ annual group tour arrived as scheduled. Leaving behind the hustle and bustle of work, we set off toward Changbai Mountain in Northeast China, drawn by our longing for its majestic mountains and rivers. During our four-day trip, we journeyed from the humid warmth of Lingnan to the crisp freshness of northern lands, stepping from the urban clamor into nature’s serene tranquility. Every leg of the journey was filled with surprises, and every moment was worth treasuring. First Stop: Changbai Mountain—Heavenly Lake Bestows Its True Beauty On the day of departure, the sunshine was just right, and our team began our journey to Heavenly Lake. Along the way, we were deeply captivated by the stunning scenery. As the altitude gradually rose, the distant Tian Shan mountain range came into view. The rolling hills, set against the blue sky, looked majestic and awe-inspiring. After much anticipation, we finally arrived at Heavenly Lake. What luck! It was our first time visiting Changbai Mountain, yet we were greeted with the sight of Heavenly Lake itself! The crystal-clear, deep-blue waters instantly amazed everyone present. Exclamations of wonder and cheers echoed through the air. Everyone rushed to get closer to this "peerless beauty," snapping photos to capture this unforgettable moment. The magic and beauty of nature always touch our hearts directly. Photos simply can’t convey the震撼 (shocking) power of the real scene—so it truly is said, “Seeing is believing.” You really have to see these sights with your own eyes. The blue sky, white clouds, mountains, and lakes—this very moment perfectly embodied the idea that “life is an open wilderness.” After admiring Heavenly Lake, we took another off-road vehicle back to the trailhead, then switched to an eco-friendly bus to reach the waterfall attraction. The Changbai Mountain Waterfall was truly spectacular—the water roared fiercely, its sound echoing for miles. It looked like a giant silver ribbon suspended high above the canyon. Whether viewed from afar or up close, the waterfall was breathtaking. Beneath the falls, the immense impact created swirling mist, making the scene absolutely magnificent. The river flowing down the waterfall ebbed and flowed, winding and twisting, stirring our senses. Second Stop: Guangdong Village—Stepping Into a Pastoral Poem of Korean Ethnic Charm As dusk approached, we arrived at a Korean ethnic village. The setting sun was gently coloring the land with a soft glow. Gray tiles and white walls turned orange, and the eaves were edged with gold—a scene straight out of a folk painting. We stepped into a local home, where the hosts warmly welcomed us and shared with us some of their local culinary customs. Third Stop: Tumen Border Crossing—A Glimpse of Two Countries at a Glance Tumen faces Namyang, North Korea, across the river. Though separated by just a single river, it feels like two entirely different worlds. Standing on the banks of the Tumen River and gazing across, we could clearly see the houses and streets of Namyang, North Korea. Scenes of daily life unfolded before our eyes through the binoculars. Listening to our guide share stories about the neighboring country’s customs and traditions, and watching the scenes across the river, we, as Chinese citizens, felt a strong sense of happiness and pride welling up inside us. We became even more grateful for our country’s peace and prosperity. Fourth Stop: Yanji—Folklore Park—Playing Princess of Yanji for a Day “You really must visit Yanji! Take a stroll in the evening breeze of the university town, put on an elegant long dress, and freeze time in the lantern-lit Folklore Park, becoming a princess of Yanji for a day.” Yanji, with its unique ethnic charm and immersive cultural experiences, has become a “fairytale city” in the hearts of countless tourists. From the snowy winter to the lush spring and summer, this place weaves a dreamlike journey through time with traditional costumes, lanterns, and a bowl of ginseng chicken soup. As our four-day trip in Northeast China drew to a close, we found ourselves immersed in the lantern-lit ambiance of Yanji’s Folklore Park. From the breathtaking azure of Heavenly Lake on Changbai Mountain to the misty spray from the waterfall dampening our clothes; from the warm smiles of Korean families in Guangdong Village bathed in the sunset, to the surge of patriotism we felt when gazing across the Tumen River at our neighbor country—each moment was like a sparkling pearl, strung together to form our cherished memories as the Zhen Shun Plastics family. This journey not only allowed us to take a break from the busy pace of work but also deepened our understanding of each other amidst the mountains and culture, strengthening our team spirit even further. Those moments—cheering together by Heavenly Lake, taking photos of each other in the Folklore Park, sharing delicious meals around the table—all will remain the warmest source of strength in our hearts. This wonderful experience wouldn’t have been possible without the company’s thoughtfulness and care.
